when I would go wheeling in northern ontario more than half of the guys were running on board air. they just wired up a small 12v compressor to a switch in the dash and plumbed it to a tank hidden somewhere for using air tools or airing up tires once it was time to hit the highway.

I cannot believe I never thought of that. I think I'm going to try that on my 86 first and see how it goes.
