Hey Y'all,
Ran into something I've never seen before. I pulled the axles out of my project 78 Bronco and the brake backing plates came with them. I've always been able to leave the plates on the truck in my younger years as I recall. This confused me. I pulled them with an axle puller and ended up breaking a brake line at the wheel cylinder before I knew what was going on. (I disconnected the last one) When I took the axles to the shop to have the bearings pressed on, no one had ever heard of the backing plates coming off with the axles. They had to remove the brearings and leave the plates on when they pressed the new bearings because the hole in the backing plate was too small to go over the bearing. No biggie....I had the drums cut and installed new brakes and springs. I just have never run into this before. Has anyoneelse had this problem?
Thanks
