My name is Dave, I'm a retired educator, enjoying my 3rd childhood and have recently acquired a 69 Bronco....it was one of those "project" trucks. Just what I needed, another project truck!!! I just recently finished up a 1500 hour restification on a 54 Chevy 5 window 1/2 ton cruiser to add to my collection of Fords and Jeeps. As you've probably guessed I'm not all that hung up on "brand names" I like'm all! If that's a problem with any of you...well, so be it!
I've been building hot rods and off-road vehicles for 40 years and bring some ammunition to the table! I'm not much for reading other people's posts and then offering up their information. Speculation, is better left to the other guys. I enjoy working with folks that have a genuine interest in making their machines more functional. Admittedly, I've probably made more mistakes than the average guy in my years of building....but I pride myself in making the mistake just once. My shops are well equipped, my dance card is mostly empty (by choice) and I can devote time to getting the job done correctly.
My 69 project has had 2 previous owners....number one went wild....complete frame and suspension buildup.....he and James Duff had a close relationship and I quit talleying when the tickets got to 5 grand. Happily, his frame/suspension upgrades were done properly, the engine was rebuilt and he was kind enough to make sheet metal repairs back to the bed area. Of course he bought all the replacement parts which were included in the deal. Owner #2 bought the Bronco, put it in a storage unit and plunked down $125/ month.......never touched the truck for 14 months. I heard about it...checked it out....made him an insulting offer (really) and his wife took it!!!! In the meantime I've finished with rusty panel replacements and beefing up the body....and will focus on getting it buttoned up.
Hopefully, I'll be able to pick up some info on this build and share some general info on the various systems I've improved over the years. As you have probably guessed, I'm not afraid to hit a keystroke.....I'm not into "yes or no" answers as little is learned. I'm looking forward to find a "Florida" network off EB owners as I have access to a thousand acres of primo off-road private property. Now all I've got to do is devote 6 months to finishing up my EB.
