hello everyone... i have a 79' bronco and the cap is leaking pretty good on two (2) of the seams. I know it's a fiberglass top, but i have never done a repair like this before. if there is anyone out there that might have done this or knows how to please let me know. thanks.

You can get a fiberglass repair kit from the auto parts/ hardware store fairly cheap. You might try just using the resin 7 hardener without messing with the glass mat if you have a small crack or seam to seal. Or just use some soft silicone to seal the cracks/ seams. The proper way to fix it would be to brace the weakened area, then add layers of fiberglass mat and resin. That's alot of work, JSM84

If the seams are leaking then to be honest I wouldn't bother with a fiberglass repair. Use a Dremel tool or something like it to get in there & clean out the seams & remove some (not all) of the original sealant. Clean it down to where you have good solid material & then reseal it using 3M Seam Sealant like the factory & dealership bodyshops use.

If you dig out a *lot* of the old seam then I'd consider listening to Randy & reinforcing the area but he's right in saying it's a lot of work. I'd carefully clean it out with a rotary tool & then reseal it.

The parts of the cap overlap, and are glued together underneath, if I recall. The seam sealer will work great, and can be painted over if necessary. Paint doesnt stick to silicone, though.
