I have my fender exit hedman headers and my header mufflers and turndowns. Now, how much of a pain are they gonna be? I just want to allow myself enough time to get them in so I can still get to work the next day. So far I see that I may have to take the steering shaft out and get rid of the brake line braket on the drivers side. Passenger side may need to take off the shock mount to slide them in. Other than that it looks like they should fit in there nice.

Any tips.

Thats awesome man.The exit headers are sweet, and I am truly jealous!I wish I could get them for my year, but Ive got too much sh#t in the way for them to fit. They are easier to install than standard headers, and short of some small trimwork, and like you said...moving a few things, you should have no problems and be the envy of those who cant hear on their cell phones in traffic.....too cool!

I got the Hedmah fender exit's on my 78 Bronco, they were some of the easiest header's I've installed. It took me about half the day. You may have to move your brake line's out of the way on the driver's side. But I didn't have to do anything with the steering shaft.

That is sweet to hear. My plan is to stray down the bolts with some pb after work tomarrow and tackle it in the morning on saturday. The bolts should come out easy enough since the motor was reacently rebuilt before I got it. Not sure if you had ac or not but that jumbled mess looks like it could pose a problem on the passenger side, though I was reassued from Jeffs bronco graveyard that it will all fit without a prob.

Just wanted some first person veiwpoints.

Thanks. And yes I cant wait to see what they look/sound like. I also went with tubular mufflers (not glasspacks) so hopefully it wont be too loud since the whole setup is only about 36 inches long including the turndowns. I hate to be bothered by the cops and disturbing sleeping neibors when I leave for work.

I'll post some pics up once I'm done.

Damn, even with 24 inch tubular mufflers. What if I also added in those header disc jobbies that you slide into the actual into the collector? I've never seen them used but I would be willing to try them out if it helps me stay somewhat suttle.

Also, you think it would be loud enough to get me pulled over? Better ?, will it be louder than a chevy 350 with headers and 3 inch strait pipe out the back?, cause there are tons of them around here and they never get hassled.

As far as the neighbor, he leaves for work an hour before me so its just his wife home. Hopefully she's a bad shot. :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

Thanks for all the tips and info. And Freak, your Bronco puts mine to shame. :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> Anyways, got them in and they sound great. Nice deep and NON-raspy sound. Installation was easy, besides my shock mount was kinda stubborn. Thinds were made a bit easier since I have a hoist, made getting the pass side rear manifold bolts slick.

So thanks again for the help. Next comes the lift kit. I'm sick of not being able to play hard and the tires rub the headers at full turn. So at least now I have a better reason to get off my arss and get it put in.

BTW, I'll post pics once it stop raining around here.

Freak that truck is too damn clean...get it muddy already

anyway my truck has the factory style inner fenders and I want to try to keep them in because the previous owner had em out and that's why I had to replace a rotted floor cause all the mud got up in there. Will they be in the way for fender exist headers, or will they be too close and melt?

Great looking truck! I have been thinking about putting the same thing on my 78. I'm glad you posted these picks. I think I will now. I've got headers and duel now, but the go under the crossmember. no room to take it anywhere else down there!

These aren't Hedman's they're the stainless Doug Thorley's that L&L sells. They angle the collector down a bit and while I *could* have had the straightpipe bent upwards to tuck it in along the frame it just wan't a very big deal to me so I never bothered with this one. I used the same kit on a different 78' and instead of having the straightpipe bent I just used an 8" length of flexpipe right at the collector to bend it up along the frame. I initially had some issues with the collector whacking the body-mount on the passenger side but after re-grinding the flanges the prob went away, dunno how the length of the Hedman's stacks up so it may not be an issue.

One thing that you'll notice right away is that once you move the exhaust out from between the framerails you have a LOT more space to work with. Things like changing the started take all of 5 min and you're not hassling with hot exhaust pipes while you work. Fenderwell exits are THE way to go in my book.

On your 78 Bronco(which I have) on your fender exit for your Doug Thorley headers-do you have to do any cutting on your inside fender wells? And if so-how much?
