I recently bought a 67' Bronco thats in great shape. The only thing is that it has a straight 6 in it. I'm not sure what straight 6 it is, its wore off the motor. I dont know if its a 250 or a 300. I had a friend run the number on the motor and it was out of a 70 something model ford car. Its rigged up pretty badly, an air cleaner wont fit, the carborator touches the hood when shut. I plan on lifting it so I would rather have the V8. Will a V-8 mount up to the transmission?

No...... the only thing re-usable (from radiator to the dr. shaft) is the transfer case.

The eng. # can't wear off... it's down by the starter approx. 4" forward of starter. If it was mfg. in the 60's it will read "C7DE" or something simular. C=6 7=7 .....meaning it's a '67 eng.

The same # is on the intake manifold...rear of carb.

FYI these engines are bullet-proof. It's more than likely a 170 cu.in. (or maybe a 200)

Where are you...? & what are you going to do with this rig..? You're prob. better served finding one with the V/8 & going fr. there.

6 to 8 expenses are; Radiator, (have to cut bigger opening) eng., eng mounts, transmission, trans & transfer shifters, & possibly dr. shafts.

I'm from the mountains of NC, the bronco will be a daily driver and occasional Tellico trips. I didnt realize that it would be that much trouble to switch out motors, so i think i can settle with the straight 6. Theres not many classic broncos around here so i settled with that one. Thanks for the reply
