I am currently working on replacing my carbureted 351W H.O. with a C-6 auto tranny to a newer EFI-351W that was originally mated to an E4OD. I do plan to change over to EFI with this new motor by getting the computer, harnesses, gas tank, etc. My main question is, is it possible to re-program the computer to use my current C-6, or am I stuck with using the E40D. Also, do I need to use a rear axle speed sensor or VSS? I currently have a Ford 9" axle, but am looking at swapping that depending on need. Thanks, JSM84

honestly, keep the C6. if you want to run the E4OD, you will need the VSS at some point in the drivetrain, not to mention a different xmember. the C6 is a stronger unit, and since you've already used it as a daily driver, i dont see why it would be any different. the computer *should* be ok, but if it isnt, it's not hard to score a computer from a manual tranny-equipped rig and plug it in

Thanks, I agree with you and want to keep use of the C-6 if at all possible. I have one from the 84 that's in it now, plus the one from the EFi 88 along with that ECM. Problem is that the new donor motor is Mass Air and a different set-up than the 88. I guess a local racecar or transmission shop may have some answers, too.
