I just put in a new crate 351W. I bolted everything up and had her ready for timiing. I had previously set the engine to what I thought was TDC on #1 cylinder, and torqued the rockers down. I found out that I was TDCing the wrong cylinder. I did the right bank instead of the left bank for #1. So..... when I went to re-TDC to the correct cylinder, I rotated the motor about three quarters of a turn and clank. It stoped dead. I tried the other way and got the smae result. Could this be because I torqued the rockers down to the TDC on the wrong cylinder. Would that make the engine completely stop? My next step is to take the valve covers off and loosen the rockers to see if I can then rotate fully.

Thanks for any help.
wOw! little hands! lol; my sons helped a lot too!...one thing, never leave keys in ign sw!...don't ask...lol<_< I found out what the problem was. My 2 year old son was helping me put my motor together and decided that it would be nice to put a 1/4 inch deep well socket into one of my cylinders.h34r: /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> He got it in through the spark plug hole. Guess thats why they suggest putting some old plugs in to make sure nothing gets in there. Oh well, I am glad I have gotten figured out. Now I can finish putting her together.
