Went to crank up my bronco the other day and found I have no headlights, radio, dash lights. I haven't got any power going to the fuse. And I don't have any power to the relay under the hood. I tried swapping the relay and tht didn't accomplish anything. Anyone got any suggestions? And does anyone know if when the switch goes out does it **** power to the fuse in turn killing power to the radio?

yo skrap420,

What is the battery voltage between + & - terminals?

Do you mean that there is no voltage at starter relay's large terminals where + batty cable attaches?

Here is the ign switch Wiring Diagram in 87-91 (from Factory Manual and the Ford Electrical & Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual (EVTM) Source: by Broncobill78 (Dave) at Ford Bronco Zone Forums

w/key in start, 12 v should be @ ckt 32, R/LB wire and down through Park/Neutral Safety Switch (NSS)/Manual Lever Position Sensor (MLPS) on C6, AOD or E4OD, Or clutch safety switch on a manual trans to starter relay

and batty voltage also @ ACCY terminal ckt 262 Br/Pnk

same for #16 to Fuse Panel R/LG

My meter isnt working so I don't have the amount of volts on the battery but I know that it has plenty enough to crank it up on the first stroke of the switch

And the wires are tight and clean on the solenoid mounted on the fender well. The relay I am talking about is one of the ones on the driver side between the

Air box and fire wall. It is a five prong relay that no power going to it. But I hooked hot wire to the battery and stuck it in the positive side of that relay and then

Used a jump wire between the other three points and when I did I had lights. I just don't know how that relay lost power in the span of four hours from when I

Parked it to when I went to crank it up once again. That's why I asked if the light switch going bad would have anything to do with it not completing the circuit or what have you.

For now,

Check Ign Sw #16 R/LG (to fuse panel)

see Fuse Block wiring diagram, similar to 91 http://www.supermotors.net/clubs/superford/registry/media/714912_1

or

I am guessing that a fusible Link is loose or burnt out @ starter relay

well i tried the headlight switch the other day and when i did nothing happend so i once again put a hot wire to the relay and had lights and radio. but when i turned the headlight switch off it left the headlights on and turned off the radio. so i then got mad and decided to just run a hot wire on a toggle switch to the relay so now when i want lights or radio i just flip the toggle and turn on the light switch and presto! i have lights. yes it is the epitemy of n**ger rigged.
