I am considering swapping out my current fan/water pump setup with dual electric fans and a proform electric water pump. I am using my Bronco to tow out toys to Dumont more and more these days, so I want to upgrade my cooling system. Of course an tranny cooler and oil cooler will follow later on down the line.

My question pertains to the proform electric water pump. Since the stock water pump and pulley are removed, how is the serpentine belt routed and will it require a shorter belt? My truck is a 1995 Bronco with a stock 302.

Thanks

I've only done one of these on an engine w/a serpentine belt and used a kit that was essentially just an idler pulley thet installed in place of the original pump and kept the original belt. There are kits that go the other way & use shorter belts or combos of additional idlers AND shorter belts, just depends on what kit you choose. I went with one that allowed me to keep the original because for one thing I was too damn cheap & didn't want to buy a new belt (the one on there was less than a yr old) and also I hate getting into custom length stuff like that because then you always have to stick the specs in your toolbox or somewhere that you won't lose them because everytime you need to replace it you have to go & ck what damn size you need. By keeping the original length belt I never had to worry about that. There are a lot of ways to go, I chose that one because I'm cheap & lazy. I've seen kits that reroute the belt & go with a different length and it visually looks better than what I did. Some guys are into that, some guys aren't. Take a look at the available kits and go with whatcha like.

While you're on the cooler kick you might want to consider one for the power steering pump, especially if you're running a larger tire. Just a quick thought.

Thanks for the info about the different options with routing the belt. I plan on getting one of the heavy duty two circuit coolers and run one circuit for engine oil and the other circuit for the power steering (as I plan on running larger tires and I plan on upgrading to a hydroboost setup for the brakes). Then I also plan on running a completely seperate cooler for the tranny.

Thanks again.
