My son has a 1990 Bronco II 2.9 w/EFI. When he changed the valve cover gaskets he unplugged the EFI connecters going to the injectors (cylinders) on the passenger side of the engine and did'nt mark which one went where. There are 6 connecters in groups of 2 that control each cylinder. 4 of the 6 have the same color wires so how do I find out what "order" the connecters go in relation to the cylinder? When we try to start it, it sounds like there are 2 or more spark plug wires crossed or is way out of time but that is not the case. Can anybody tell me how to find what order these connecters go? I'd appreciate any help at [email protected].

On my 89 full size I unplugged all my injectors' when I hooked them back up I laid the wiring on the intake and the wires pretty much just pointed to each injector. That sounds like its time to pull out the manual

Gary,

I am guessing here but just thinking out loud.

I am guessing that the injectors would open in the same order as the fireing order.

Each would send current for the injector to open, so if one could check and determine the order that the injectors are opening...

Good luck.

This will be a mistake he will not make again eh?

I thought there was a color code that would let you plug connecter A to plug in B? But not on this one. Been a shade tree mechanic most of my life, but I'm not familiar with Ford EFI or the injecter timing. Guess it's back to the drawing board. I'll keep on plugging, but any advise anyone can give will be greatly appreciated. This is a very good forum. Thanx to everyone for their help.

Hey fellas, Thanx for the fast come backs. I followed Yardapes advise last night. Layed the harness on the manifold and thought I'd figured it out, but it did'nt work. The wires are pretty flexable so I obviously got it wrong. Now, it's a mess. I'll try bringing #1 to top dead center and see if any of the connecters have juice. If so...bingo, I can do that on all of them. If not...then I'll have to spring for a manual. Do we ever stop supporting our kids?

Still working on the 1990 bronco II. When I bring # 1 to TDC I have current in both connecters at both wires. Can anyone shoot me the firing order for a 2.9 EFI? Again, many thanx
