Anyone done it before?

I'm really looking for an indash navigation/dvd/mp3/hd radio/sat radio unit. Yeah I can get by with a nice single din stereo with an aftermarket navigation unit..but I really want something with a big screen and something that does everything.

I think I can fit in a doubble din until into the current space now.. however I would need to fab up some way to place the Hvac system controls.. Or I may be able to fit a 7" single din stereo but don't know if there will be enough clearence for the screen to tilt back..

So an option I've been toying with was building a console: Remove the current center console, and build one that goes up to the radio. As a 1/4 of the box going up to the radio, I would build it at a slant and build it around a doubble din indash touchscreen stereo.

Anyway, anyone do anything like this?

i dunno if u have done anything with this or not but i would recommend trying to do away with the ashtray. and i havent checked none of this i am going off the top of my head but i believe it would be alot easier to either do that or relocate the radio cause u still do have some mechanical parts hooked to the heater controls and u would have to extend those.

Yeah I went to the cartoys the other day to find a new stereo unit.. Found a nice pop out, 7" navigation/cellphone/radio/sat radio/ect for a good price, and it looks like it would work well with my setup..but I would have to move the heater controls down, and the streo up. Don't think a doubble din would work unfortantly..too much modification
