I replaced the door strikers on my bronco and ran into a problem. The nut that the door striker bolts into is stripped. I was wondering how i would go about replacing the bolt, and where one can be purchased. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

get a helicoil kit. you tap out the threads for the coil, then thread in the coil which if you buy the right kit will match the original threads. allowing you to use the old bolt, then bolt it back up and you are done. takes about 15 minutes.

you just need to find a store that carries them. I used one on one of my motocross bikes when oil drain plug got messed up.

I don't think jb weld would stand up to the abuse of door slammin. you can try it if you like but as far as I can remember the heilcoils are cheap and easy, and are as strong as the original nut and bolt. But its up to you.

yo;

You can remove bed side & B pillar trim panels; there is a "captive nut plate" inside the B Pillar; so when unscrewing the bolt w/ a Torx T-50 bit that capt. nut plate won't fall to da pillar bottom

Get another from a yard or ask a local auto body (or supply/paint) shop

Watch out for the Dorman HELP brand stuff now....the driver/passenger door striker kit w/ bushings, 38445 are not fffin good..bushing diameter is way off and striker frame is off as well....it will bolt-in, but aligning it for a no-rattle fit is efffin a waste of time and possible damage to passenger or driver. the Dorman HELP tail gate striker bushings pn 38424 are a good fit & the door bushings driver/passenger bushings are incl. in this kit & fit better than the 38445 part!
