took my dist. out to adjust the timing and having trouble getting it back in? 302 in a 69. It goes almost all the way in and then about a quarter of and inch it stops. Anybody knows any tricks that would help? Thanks.

You can make sure the oil pump drive shaft is aligned to go into the bottom of the distributor when it indexes down. You may try to turn it slightly and try between turns until it drops in.
