A friend of mine has 300 gears in his Bronco (351M engine) and wants to go to 456 gears what needs to be changed besides the gears and seals, I have heard that 456 gears are larger in size.

hahaha if u dont already kno then u i wouldnt attempt to do gears....your prolly gonna need a new carrier and such and to set the last ....its very very much a pain and u gotta get it perfect or the rears may blow....id let a professional do it

i agree, gears are finiky. gears are not cheep. you don't want to drive around thinking you got it right and then have the gears grenade on you.

I don't plan to rebuild the diffs myself nor does he, the work will be done my someone with experience we just need to know what additional parts are required so we can estimate the cost.

what year is the truck?? different axles for different years. best bet is look up rebuild kit on a websight like JBG http://broncograveyard.com/products/cat

also y do u want different gear ratios?? bigger tires??? what RPM does it cruse at when doing like 65 on the highway. do u do a lot of offroading?? what is the torque curve on the cam in the engine??? all these things mater when selecting axle ratios :-B
