Details of my new to me Dana 60

Front Ford Dana 60 high pinion axle assemby

The axle is full width and the build is as follows:

Detroit locker with 5:13 gears, Yukon shafts, the u-joints are Spicer non-serviceable, Dedenbear Knuckles, it is a king pin axle, Warn drive flanges, Warn 1500# winch mounted on the axle, and the drive shaft Yoke is for a 1350 u-joint. The bolt pattern is 5 on 5.5. this axle still uses the Ford disk brake assemblies. The tie rod has Heim Joints at the ends and there are mounts for a Rock Ram (Rock Ram is NOT INCLUDED). The axle was in a Jeep with a 4 link suspension and air shocks. 35 spline.

I bought it off e-bay so who knows. Ill let you know when it gets here. I found a 14 bolt for $100. but im waiting to find out what the width is.

That is one schweeeet D60 with all the goodies on it!!! Hope you got a good deal, it's worth about $4,000 if you bought all those parts new. Are you going to go 3/4-link on the front, or go with some Cage arms and coils? JSM84

I have no idea what to do. Im new at this. Im taking suggestions. The bid started at 500. with no reserve but ran up to 1500. and with 4 sec to go I got it at 1585. I won it by $25. I work for UPS freight so shipping is only $110. Funny thing is I only paid $1000. for the bronco. Im going with a 14 bolt rear because I can get one for $100. locally. I allready bought a set of five 38 x 12.50 15 inch super swampers for $600. but thay are on 6 lug chevy american racing wheels so im going to need wheels. Right now I just need to figure out what piece I need next to get these axles under my bronco. All help is greatly appreciated.

Arrgh, seeing that on the deck all ready to be bolted in makes me want to go & kick the dog. Nothing but jealousy of course, it's not the dog's fault that I don't have one of my OWN to install. ****, I'm still trying to find a cheap transmission. Nice score Chief (but my dog will appreciate it if you don't post anymore pics like that)

For the rear axle, the GM 14bolt swap will be fairly simple if you stay with leafs. Grind off the old spring pads, and weld on some new ones for your 3' Ford leafs. Do a shackle flip and you have 4-5" lift in back. The 14B brake drums are hella huge, s oI'd swap to disc rotors and save some weight.

Take some measurements on the front Dana60, see where the spring mounts line up. You'll get some mad flex if you use the CAGE Offroad arms and brackets with some 6" coils, although those run about $750 last time I checked. The winch on the axle is used to control the body when climbing or descending steep grades. Most of the rock crawlers have those, really slick mod, too.

cool im going to look into to the cage offroad arms and 6' coils. I wont need different leafs in the rear to match the height of the front provided I do the 6' coils? Thanks for your help

Yes, if you raise the front 6" you need to lift the rear with a block, AAL, lifted spring pack, shackle flip or some combo of those. With the shackle flip, you might get by with an AAL in your stock spring pack or a small 1" zero rate, offset pinhole block to re-center the axle. That's what I have at the moment on the Sterling 10.25" rear axle on the 84 Bronco. When I install the 4" lift leaf springs on the front Dana60, I'll get some 4" lifted rear springs to match the ride height.
