i am using my 82 bronco as a chassis for my 4x4 RV project. my question is about remounting the steering. Can i move the steering box up 2 foot or more to match up with the vw bus steering. The steering for the van comes out right behind the front bumper on the bronco. My though was to get a drop pitman arm that was longer than stock, use hiem joints on the links to help compensatefor the change in steering geometry.

I can't use hydrolic steering because it needs to be road worthy.

Don't see whay you can't move it any place you want since this is a custom project. As long as you fabricate the necessary arms and joints to make it work.

I don't know anyone else in the world who is doing what you are, so you are the pioneer and will have to tell us all how it was done. :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" /> Don't forget to post pictures and write ups of your progress :-"

Good luck,

I run a scout box and monted it where i wanted to. I actually twisted it on the frame so I don't nees a drop pitman arm. This angle also helps so the steering shaft has no angle as well.. here it is...
