Im thinking about converting to propane in my 78. She is just my daily driver, no crazy off road stuff. I live in Canada and the gas is killing me, but there is know way Im giving up my truck. If anyone has done this or can tell me what a good system is That would be great. :) /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />

The only problem I have heard with running propane, is that your valve guides will wear faster. Something to do with the gas and lubricating the valve stems.

My dad had a propane truck it wouldnt start below 30 degrees or something like that (though theyve probably fixed that problem by now) Think in the long run when doing it though propane suppliers arent as frequent as propane and you will probably want to upgrade your valve guides

Thanks so far for the input. That site was some what helpful. I'll keep on checking things out. I live in Canada so the gas prices are killin' me!!! Its like 99.9 a liter! For regular! :(( I just look on the bright side though, I don't have no stinkin' car payment. >

I also live in Canada , I couldn't afford to drive my Bronco if it wasn't on prop. My biggest complaintis the only tank that will fit underneath is a 100L. I only get about 200k on that. the bright side is it only costs $30.00 to fill it.

Do you notice any loss of power? I was told I would loose anywhere from 10-20 % ??? Did you do the conversion yourself ? what kind of sysyem do you have ? any problems with it. Sorry about all the questions...lol. I just dont want to do something and regret it later. :)>-

yes you loose power, I just keep putting in bigger engines, no I didn't do the conv. myself, it was done when I bought my truck. Even though I am a lic. tech. when I do a conv. it still must be certified by a prop.shop to get the sticker. Before I got my bronco , I hated prop. now I'm doing conv. to alll my friends Bronco's. It's cheap to run and great for 4 wheelin', no float bounce or carb issues. I'm very happy with it!

Hi, I know this is an old post... I'm new to the site looking for tips and pointers on converting my 460 engine from gas to propane. Fortunately the truck is all set to go (has a 351W in it running smoothly) but as we all say, go big or go home...

Anyhow, I am wondering since propane runs hotter am I going to need to change my valves and heads, I suspect yes but I am having a hard time finding any specs on the net. Anyhow, any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!!

I should specify... it's an 86 Bronco...
