Years ago I remember reading a how-to magazine article about converting an AC compressor into an air compressor. Has anyone else heard of this or know anything about it ? I'm looking at a lot of boneyard time in the near future and I'm thinking it would be better than awesome to be able to pull the truck in there and use some air tools as well as having access to air tools out on the trail when things inevitably break, bend or otherwise go south. It would even be worth it to me to take it off & bring it to a shop to have the work done if I could get a good onboard source of air. Years ago I had a bumper made up out of 4" thickwall tubing and I was able to tap the end for an air fitting & it actually held enough air @ 150PSI to air up all 4 of my tires when I came up off the sand at Cape Cod. (anyone here ever see the wall of photos @ the Provincetown ranger station where you get your permit ?) I know there are electric under-hood compressors but I'd like to use my existing hardware if possible and I hate to spend more $$$ than I need to. Thanx
