How is the column stick shift held in place - do I have to remove the wheel and turn signal assembly or can it be pulled out of the sleeve by pushing in the two pins on the collar? Don't want to mess with the turn signal assembly - if it can't be pulled loose, I'll just cut the sucker off!

Thanks

Depends on whether or not you have the single roll pin or the three piece spring loaded set-up.

Either way, you can remove the shifter by removing the pin, no need to cut it off.

The shift collar on the column is another problem, if you plan on getting a "smooth" collar, you will need to remove the signal switch.

Thank you STLKIKN. My shifter has the two push pins, and I thought that it should pull out just by pushing the two pins in, but I "huffed and I puffed " (not to mention a few choice words!) trying to pull that dude out - but no luck. I guess that's why God invented cutoff tools! I'll worry about the collor removal later, too many other Bronco projects on the adjenda!

Thank you for the info.

Don't cut it off, just take the whole thing out,put in a new stainless Flaming River tilt, and heavy duty telescoping steering shaft to get rid of that "rag' shaft.Best upgrade I've done.Really makes the steering feel solid, drastically improves road feel.
