I recently bought a set of chromoly front shafts from Alloy USA for my 78 Bronco front Dana44, since I keep breaking the stock ones running 38" tires. Was wondering what would be the best option for the front axle as far as traction aide. Right now the diff is open, and I ran a full spool on the 84 Bronco. Was thinking about running a Detroit TrueTrac L/S instead of the spool, to ease up a bit on the new shafts. Mostly run straight-line mud drags, but climb the rocks now and then. The rear axle is a 9" with a Currie Nodular center section and a full spool, 4.88 gears in both axles. JSM84

I toasted a Detroit TrueTrac L/S. I had a 79 F150 with 38's and a dana 44 with 4.56's. Was great until the helical gears broke apart and jammed the rest of the unit when I dropped into a hole.
