Hi again guys. I have a 82 bronco with a 4.9l and as I was rebuilding the carburetor I noticed the choke was cracked and in putting it back on it snapped. So I am looking for a replacement automatic choke but I was wondering if it is possible to put a manual choke on it. I know its not necessary but I'm just wondering if yall have heard of doing something like that. My main dilemma is that I am unsure how to mount it on the carb.

Unclear exactly which part cracked.

A boneyard may have what you need.

And., YES conversions kits are avail., but it usually takes a bit of craftsmanship.

I'm not current on the 300I 6cyl. Ford eng. or it's carb.

Someone on this board may just have what you need, laying around.

However., they'll need to know if it's the orig. factory carb., or an aftermarket unit.

most carbs on the 300's new or original are autolite 1 bbl, unless someone puts a aftermarket intake on, but anyways back to the point.

An auto choke is available from the parts stores for around $40 I believe, when set right there are awesome, you don't have to worry about forgetting to turn it off later if the engine is not warmed up before you take off. personally I think a manual choke makes the whole truck look ultra cheap, they belong on tractors not trucks.

Thanks I really appreciate it man. I found one I'll have to order it but it's better than not finding one. I've thought it over all day and I came to the same conclusion.

Hey guys thanks for the help Krafty, Rons Beast, and Bully Bob. I got a choke. It now runs I just have to adjust a couple things. Then clean the gas tank. Then I get to get started on replacing the window guides and seals.
