I think before I do anything intake mods or ecu mods I am going to change the gears. I have a 302 with 35's and as you can expect it is pretty sluggish. My my overdrive doesnt doesnt really respond well to the tires either. I am trying to decide between 4.56 or 5.13 I want to be able to go atleast 75 but have some power when I take off. What do yall think would be the best ratio and do you know any sites where I could get good gears. I looked at broncograveyard.com and I can get USA gears 5.13 ratio for 170 for the front and rear axle. But again I have no clue on changing gears and what a good deal is or if im buying crap help me out,

thanx BigGreenBronco

p.s. I have the E4od

I don't know what transmission u have but I have an e4od with 37 in tires and I have 456 gears.I do 70 with no problems and only turning 2100 rpm. I have very good take of power and still manage 12 miles per gallon.

just a suggestion but it sounds like ur going to be doing a lot of highway driving with some mild off roadin , and if that is the case i would definitely go with the 4.56.

D44 yukon ring and pinion , reverse rotation 4.56 front #22060C

8.8 yukon ring and pinion rear 4.56 #32310D

these 2 parts can be found on broncograveyard i took the liberty of findin part # for u i assume u have ttb 44 up front and 8.8 in the rear . i personally like yukon gears but depending on what u do with ur bronco will help determine was what brand and size gear u go with . also would like to know what trans u have to insure proper gearing . as far as installation goes fairly easy if mechanically inclined and have proper tools . i have not replaced gears on my bronco yet but the front end looks to be a little more difficult. have only built my Chevy axles . but a little advice rebuild axles . when i built my first axle i did not replace seal in about 300 mile i was pulling it back apart to fix all the leaks . for help on install i would go to advanced or autozone and pick up a Haynes or car tech book for ur year bronco . that's what i did . hope i could help . and good luck on ur build.did not notice the ps remark 4.56 should do the trick.

I am doing mostly highway driving and on the weekends just camping and playing around in the mud nothing serious. What else do I need for the gears On the site it says something about "a notched pinshaft is required for this gearset"?
