i was thinking of putting a new cam in my engine to get some more power out of it. i was thinking of this cam 270-443904 from jegs.

http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/Pro...902&prmenbr=361

any info would be helpfull and should i do it with 120k on the clock??? i've allways changed the oil every 2500 miles scence i owned it and their is no unusall noise from the engine besides the broken manifold that i will be replacing soon. i will be pulling the engine out so i can replace the rusted oil pan and leaking rear main seal :(( i will however replace the timing chain and gears eather way.

thanks

If your going to pull it why not take it somewhere to be rebuilt and do any upgrades then? That is what I would do, but just my opinion.

Since you're putting in the time and effort to pull the engine - which ain't easy - I would suggest at least getting remanufactured heads, or take 'em somewhere and get 'em redone. I put reman'd heads on my 82 that had 147,00 miles when I got it and every time I have checked the oil since it's clean enough to see through.

One note: when you swap a cam, you want to make sure it's compatible with your stock valve springs, lifters, timing gear, etc.

I wouldnt mess with the computer you could end up in a tuning nightmare . The cam I used in my 351W when I rebuilt it is one that comp cams makes specifically for the fuel injected 351W . It has been a very good cam so far very happy with it and you dont have to change the computer because its ground within the limits of the computer fuel and timing map . :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
