I haven't really even begun to deal with Xfer case issues yet but I'm just trying to anticipate them. Looking at the wiring diagram for my 1356 and everything that's involved I just can't believe for a minute that this freaking thing is anything more than a migrane waiting to happen. Has anyone sucessfully converted one to strictly manual operation or maybe just used a 3-position dash mounted switch to bypass the factory harness ? Any chance anyone's actually done this or am I just looking at a pipe dream here ? Seems to me that manual hubs and a floor shifter is the way to go or at least a dash mounted bypass switch, is someone gonna **** my dream or tell me it's an easy fix ? What the **** ever happened to the NP205's ??? Lemme guess, they didn't break frequently enuf to be profitable ?

You can swap in a manual-shift version, that's what most folks do. Haven't heard of "bypassing" the stock circuitry for the electric-shift version. The factory relay is there for a reason-mainly safety. You don't want to accidentally shift into 4WD going down the highway. JSM84
