Well i got a 84 bronco with a 300-6 in it and everything under the hood is almost new but the carb i just rebuilt that but anyways heres the prob when i drive it sometimes it acts like i hit a brick wall just a really hard sharp pause than its good again and then if i shut if off go inside for a lil bit and come out it wont start i dunno whats going on??? but if you could help that would be great [-o<

My '80 4.9L6 had a similar problem, someone rebuilt the carb before I bought the truck. The screws that hold the various pieces together in the carb "stack" had all vibrated loose creating all kinds of air and vacuum leaks. Tighten up all the screws to the proper torque. Second problem was that who ever had rebuilt the carb also turned the air cleaner stud too far into the barrel forcing the choke plate to a permanently open position. Also make sure gasket material isn't blocking the action of the float, jets, vacuum passages, etc.
