I have a 1993 bronco. The rear gears are in need of replacement. I found a complete rear axle from a 1997 F150 for consideraly less than the gear set. The gear ratios are the same. I was wondering if there is a problem with the swap. I know that the axles will need to be replaced, due to the bolt pattern for the wheels. Any all help would be greatly appreciated.

you'd do better with a 87 to 96 bronco,f150 or e150 8.8 with the same gears then it would be a direct swap. no swapping axleshafts or question of fitment.

I would think swapping custom axle ends would make it a lot more expensive.

yo,

You will need the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) (also called called ABS) for ABS, PSOM, Cruise Control (if equipped), PCM, and E4OD (if equipped)

wouldn't the 97 rear end have a VSS in it?
yo WILEEC,

Thanks for asking; I did not post the available For info at that time and forgot to get back here sooner.

I do not know for sure; the 97 8.8 has it in-place, and the 97 was avail w/diff rears depending on model and drive (4x4 vx 4x2, etc.

I do not know if pulses per mile is same; as well as resistance

But, Ford does show same Basic PN for both the 96 F 150 w/8.8 and 93 Bronco!

93broncodriver can go to local Ford ealer Parts manager and ask; and ask for specs to be sure.

Measure resistance between the two pins. Is reading between 800 and 1400 ohms? Yes - Vehicle speed sensor checks OK
