I continue to have problems with my auto windows in my 91 Bronco Eddie Bauer Edition 4x4 including back glass window. I have replaced motors recently approx 3 mnths ago and now the back glass and drivers side are not fuctioning again the passenger window is woking. Is this happening to anyone else and what can i do. I am tired of replacing the motor only for the same thing to happen a couple of months later. Thanks for any advice.

Are you sure that it is a motor problem. The failures are frequently wiring related. I would suggest you get a good multimeter and check the system for the windows.

By the way does the passenger window work from both sides? If so, that narrows down the list of possible failures.

Does the tail gate window work from any of the switches? If not, a frequent culprit is the tail gate latch switch. Try pushing on the left side of the tail gate when operating the tail gate switch.

You can jumper the motor direct with a couple of leads to a 12V battery to see if the motor infact works. Swaping the leads reverses the direction of the motor.

Diagrams attached.

Good luck,

:)>-

The Passenger window does work from both sides. However the back does not work from the cab or from inserting key on outside of tailgate.

the back window on mine was a ground problem- the bottom of the tailgate rusted out and somehow i lost me ground- my windows were from rain getting into the switch on the door and rusting the connections... good luck

Do you think rust would be a problem for me its an arizona Bronco and always has been not much water out here to rust her up. But there are other ways i could have lost ground i guess (not an expert on wiring)

Well that means that everything is good atlease up to the switch and your problem is on the right hand side of the diagram, either the switch, motor, connector or wire. try jumpering the motor leads first to either eliminate it or confirm that it is bad.

Do the same for the rear window. you should be able to get at the leads by removing the cover. If the motor checks out good, shoot one switch at a time. I'd start with the tail gate switch. Probe the black with white stripe wire. It should be hot at all times. Get a good ground for one meter lead and look for 12V on the black with white strip wire. If you have 12V there, operate the switch and check at the motor, You will need to cheat the latch switch. Keep in mind the latch switch could be your problem. If you get 12V at the motor then the problem is in the ground return path which goes back thru several connectors to the driver switch. The ground connection for the motor is under the dash.

Good luck,

:)>-

The wires on the tailgate go out a lot from frequent opening and closing, if you can get it down you may want to look at them and see if they are frayed or broken. Good luck!
