Ok, I was out at a friend's house yesterday and since he's a know it all about cars etc I let him get underneath and find out where the fluid is coming from that ends up on the dr5ive way.....

well, my question is....on an AOD Transmission should there be 4 or 7 bolts connecting the bell housing to the engine? he counted only 4 (2 at the top and 2 at the bottom) but there were holes for 7....and there was fluid dripping from the bottom edge......is this bad?

as well, which way should the transmission pan gasket be. there's a black side and a silver side.....which side should be against the transmission?

the trans pan should go on only one way... the bolts that hold the trans on- there should be 2 holes for pins, that alighn trans during install and then the rest should have bolts in them. if it's leaking from the front of the trans(bell housing area) it's either the front seal or torque convertor leaking. the trans needs to come out to fix both of them though.

You answered one of my queries, but not the other....

which side up for the pan gasket? or is there only one way it goes....maybe the one I have is bad.....cause it's leakin a bit. And I will be getting the trans looked at asap, cause tonight the brake warning light came on in the truck...and that worries me....any ideas what would cause that....the fluid level is fine, but the brakes shudder when applied....the ABS on the rear wheels shouldn't cause a shudder.

does the brake pedal pulsate when you brake at lower speeds?may be a warped brake rotor

Nope, I found out later that it's a problem with my parking brake pedal being loose. Anyone know where I can adjust it or if it's user adjustable in the cab? or does it need to go into a shop for that? I have to get my brakes checked anyways. I'm still trying to get my truck into a tranny shop to be looked at, but i do think the torque converter is on the verge of giving up.

I would say yes to that.

Just watch the fluid level, because a low fluid level willl cause the tranny to start slipping...

Mine seems to only have the 2 at the top and the 2 at the bottom.....but I'm not sure when I will be able to get any work done to it.....short on funds right now due to being on leave of absence from work for the past month.....

A friend of mine has submitted my rig to overhaulin' tho, and I am pretty good at forgetting this stuff...so by the time they get around to it (if it happens), then I'll be stupid to the whole thing....
