how long is the C6 compared to your AOD? You may need to lengthen/shorten driveshafts.

It's been awhile since I swapped mine, but I needed to change:

1. Shorten rear driveshaft...took it to a driveshaft shop and they welded it up no problem

2. I used the transfer case that came with the C-6 - NP205 I believe, not sure if you can use your current case...I'm sure someone knows

3. Needed to get a kick-down rod from an older F-150 so that downshifting would be possible.

4. Of course you'll need the shifting linkage from the C6.

5. There's a vacuum line that runs down to the tranny...don't think there was one for the AOD.

That's all that comes to mind right now, there's probably some other guys on here that know a little more about it. As far as your rear-end, that SUCKS. Time for some bigger axles???

ive herd that 36s are the max you can runbut theres a better chance of breaking the u joints mhen mudding or driving hard.i hope that after my rear end gets rebuilt the tranny will hold till i can get a new one

just curious, is the c 6 better than the aod. why are you going from aod to the c6. i've got the aod in my 86 and the c6 in the 84. both trucks drive completely different but i dont know how much is due to the tranny's.
