Another Silly Question

I found this part located on the drivers side outer frame rail, just below the firewall.

Only one fuel line connects to it and and one wire.

Oops its a 76 EB with 302 auto.

Looks like a filter of some type with maybe a wire for temp gauge? Seems like fuel but I doubt it. Better just ditch it.

The charcoal canister is for vapors only. There isn't fuel that actually is "supposed" to go into them. This looks like someone's idea of an aftermarket electronic fuel pump. Follow the wire up and see where it leads to, I bet 3 to 1 odds that it is a fuel pump that someone hot wired off of the ignition switch. When the key is in the on position it will pump and when it is off the pump is off. What some people will do to get away from using the original manual pumps....GEEZE!!
