I have a lot of electrical equipment on my truck such as hid lights, air horns, aftermarket head unit and speakers and I plan on adding a light bar and doing the electric fan conversion, is the 3g alternator upgrade enough to handle this and more? Or is there something else that is better? My bronco is a 90 with a 351

yo 90,

Yes, a 3G will help a lot.

see a few 3G install Links @ http://www.broncolinks.com/index.php?index=74

there are the "normal" 130 amp 3G, 160 amp (3G) and 200 amp 3G; then there is the 220 amp, AIS Installation in a 91

When you swap from a 1G or a low output 3G to a 130 or more amp 3G, although you do not NEED a larger charge cable such as a 2 Gauge, it is a great idea. Smaller wires/cables cannot always handle such a load and they tend to heat up, some to the point of melting the wire and could start a fire. ALWAYS make sure you use a megafuse rated at least 15-25 amps above your alternator amperage.

Well that seems easy enough, where can I get the 220 amp alt? Is there a car that came with it or do I have to buy it new?

220 is huge, possibly even overkill.

I've got a 165a 3g, and I run a 12,000 winch, OBA, and 810 watts of lighting. Under full load, lights,. winch everything, the system voltage only drops to about 13v.

$190 to RJM for the alternator, 3G harness, and charge cable made for a pretty good deal for me. If you looked hard, I suppose you could find a similar kit on e-bay, too

See this info from RJM food for thought http://www.rjminject...0amp-alternator .

Those two items may load down your current alternator, which in turn loads down the engine, but a 130 - 160 should not have a problem.

Also do the wire from alternator to battery and voltage distribution point. (see kits at RJM) . If you don't, putting a larger alternator is pointless and the old wiring can not safely support the increased capability.

Good luck,
