Hi, I have a 86 bronco eb xlt with a 351w. I want to install a nice grant steering wheel but can't get the horn to work. The horn works OK with the stock steering wheel. It does have cruise control. The grant adapter has 2 leads. The stock wheel had a black ground and a blue and yellow\red stripe wires (3) going to the wheel itself. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

See if this is same for your Grant KIT; Post The Gran kit Number.

Installation, Grant in an 89 WITH CRUISE

"...Picked up a Grant #748, 4 spoke 14" 3" dish wheel and install kit #3249

here is the cover from the installation kit. install the cover and then the bracket for the backside of the steering wheel.

here it got a little tricky, the included directions sucked. i think my wheel came with an integrated horn button, but my original horn never worked quite right anyway. i followed the directions to clip part of the wire off the horn button so that it can't ground on the steering wheel, however my horn doesn't work at the moment, i'm not sure if i did that part right. you take the horn button out of the wheel, pop it all apart to clip the part of the wire/spring that sticks out to ground against the steering wheel and then put it all back together.

pop the horn button back in, tighten the allen bolts that hold the steering wheel to the bracket..."

IF NOT SAME KIT, See WIRING DIAGRAM @

I have the 3249 grant kit. I did the cutting of the spring but nothing. I'm wondering if it needs grounded to one of the three bolts on the install hub like a 1 wire install needs?

yo,

Found more info on the KIT; Derrick wrote; "I had a little trouble with the horn thing, but it was b/c I forgot the little foil piece. I actually threw it away, b/c it didnt look like anything I needed. I guess it's a ground. My horn was just going off constantly until I installed that thing. Works like a champ now. "

EB wrote; " hated mine, and took it back off. The horn button constantly popped out, and made the horn blow. I tried all kinds of stuff to make it work. I even called Grant, and they offered to send me an "improved" billet something or other for $30. I said no thanks."

BY GRANT; "The horn button on my Challenger/Classic wheel will not go on. What am I doing wrong?

On many Ford vehicles starting in 1966, there is an unused stub on the end of the steering shaft. This stub will need to be cut off with a hacksaw or equivalent. See the instructions provided with kit for the proper procedure.

The brown retainer contact or ring is on upside down. Make sure the brown side is facing up toward you and the metal side is down. "
