Hi there, I blew the engine in my 1996 F-150 5.8l w/ e4od auto trans. and i have stumbled onto a donor truck which is a 1994 F-250 with an EFI 460 which also is an automatic. Now since i have already done a little preliminary research on this after tossing around the idea and weighing my options on weather or not to just rebuild my 351 or just go full bore with the 460, ive made my choise now that ive got a complete donor truck. Now before i go throwing wrenches at it i want all my ducks in a row.. my main concern is wiring/ecm. Since my truck is OBDII w/ MAF and obviously not currently a 460 i will need to use the ecm from the donor truck i am assuming. My concern is, will this ecm "plug and play" or is there going to be some harness work involved here? And if the wiring harness is going to be my issue is there anyone who has done something similar or anyone who may have an adapter kit for this harness or something of that nature? i have already checked out www.fordfuelinjection.com and found that they specialize in selling things like harnesses and adaptor kits but i am not sure what exactly i would need for this. I will have everything i need im assuming seeing as i have a complete truck as a donor rig but i just need to know if there is any way to aviod a wiring nightmare before i begin this endeavor. any and all info is greatly appreciated.
