I would like to ask the board a question about my 1990 Bronco rear window.

It went out a while ago, just got around to replacing it today. I installed a new one, and it only went one way... down...

So, now I'm stuck (!) with it down, and as we all know, it's not wise to drive that way.

The Haynes manual say's there's a "button" to push to disengage the motor... but I really don't see it.

Any suggestions on getting my window up so I can at least lower/raise it manually as I did before the "new" motor, which was better than no movement at all?

Thank you for any input...

If the motor went down under control of the motor you probably have a bad connection in the purple with light blue stripe wire. Most likely in the connector on the rear cross member left side. Another possibility is a brake in that wire where the line flexes on the left side of the gate. You can confirm that the motor will work by jumpering the motor leads. Use a set of wires from a spare battery or the truck battery to the yellow and red leads on the motor. Swap the leads to reverse the direction of the motor.

Good luck,

:)>-

Disregard... I spliced the wire at the chassis/tailgate junction and reversed polarity... thanks to advise on this board after a review. Seems as rear windows are a hot item.

I'll be back, as this is not my only issue...

Thanks for such good questions and answers, board!
