I am wondering where I should go (internet or else) to look for re-manufactured or new transmission to replace the transmission (auto) of an '89 Bronco II, 2.9L 4x4?

Yauyeh, your 89 has the A4LD transmission. Many places sell these online, but these puppies are heavy and shipping is usually a deal killer. I'd check your local transmission shops about a reman unit. Look in the YellowPages and call them up. I doubt if you could find a brand new one anymore.
