HELLO, my broncos steering has gotten worse it still is loose when driving unless i go over 60 then it is terrible and probably not safe. ANYTHING i can do that is simple and cheap to fix that? Also when i turn it to sharp right or to sharp left the truck will turn off. U-Turns, cant do them. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Your steering problem could be the steering box or even the ball joints being bad. Have you checked to see if you have play in the wheels when you have it jacked up? Try top to bottom and side to side motion for each front tire when you have it jacked up. They shouldn't move if the ball joints are good. Bad ball joints will give you some real bad steering characteristics and the faster you go the more exciting it can get. One thing is called slot car steering where it shoots to one direction or the other similar to a slot cha in a trac.

Have you checked the steering box for excessive slack, how far can you move the steering wheel when parked without feeling resistance of the tires?

Good luck,

:)>-

Okay thanks. We checked the steering box, it was ok not to much excessive slack but i think the last time i had my axle housing replaced the guy at mikesoffroad said i should check the ball joints out. The steering wheel turns without the tires turning anything to do with the ^ problems?

I guess that depends on how much, with the engine off, mine turns just slightly before feeling the resistance of the wheels. If it turns more than that and the steering box is good, I'd check out the linkage to the box.

Good luck,
