I was given this truck and it became an addiction to get it into top shape. I have no clue how the axle got bent. Does anyone know how common this is? Because I don't want to get one from a junkyard and install a new, Bent, one. Or should I just go new on it. Also, how hard is it to change. Thanks again guys!~

Someone must have been betting on it pretty hard to bend the axle shaft. You should be ok to swap in a used one from the junk yard.

If you want you can up grade the whole rear axle with and 8.8" out of an Explorer. They have 31 spline axle shafts and pretty beefy for the BII. You just have to weld on new spring perches and shock mounts to the 8.8" since the Explorer is a spring under axle, where as the BII and Ranger are spring over axles.

If you have any more q's just ask.

Before you swap out the whole axle, make sure you compare the gearing to the front. If you has 3.55 or whatever the B2 has and you put in say 4.10's from an Explorer, you will be fixing parts, most likely the T-case. It is safe to get an axle out of the junk yard, be sure its the same year or close and that its the same side. Some axles are different from side to side.
