I have a 79 ford bronco and the shifter on the column doesn't lock into gear, it just flops around. To fix it I've heard all you have to do is replace the coupler were the shifter is. I'm wondering if this will fix my problem, and if it does how hard will it be to do it. Thanks.

I dont know if thats your problem, but I had to replace the shifter collar on mine due to half of the collar broken off where the roll pin holds the shift lever in,and my shifter was all sloppy. What I found was they are different between auto and manual and tilt or non tilt.It was pretty simple to replace. Basically take the wheel off, turn signal stalk off,I think you have to move the turn signal switch out of your way,you should have enough slack in the wires to pull it towards you a couple of inches. There are a couple of phillips screws that hold the collar in. Once you get there it should slide off.I did this about 4 years ago so there could be stuff Im missing, just dont rush through it ripping stuff apart. Hope this helps somehow,,,,Mike :D /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" width="20" height="20" />
