okay so i am new to the forum and to the ford world. got a 78 bronco and i am putting in a 460 motor. trying to find headers. summit says i cant use f-150 or f-250 headers which is what the motor came out of. From my understanding the bronco and pickups have the same frames and cabs with most other parts the same as well. inner fender wells have been removed and bronco is lifted 6-8 inches and sitting on 36" tires. given all that, clearance issues should not be a big deal so any reason why I cant use 460 pick-up headers for this motor swap? also wondered if i can a take a 2wd c6 truck trans and convert it to 4wd by removing rear housing and tailshaft and bolting up np205 tcase?

I believe the main difference between a 4wd trans and a 2wd trans is the output shaft is different. This would mean the 2wd c6 will not accept the transfer case because of the output shaft difference. I may be wrong though.

you will also have to get a 4x4 trans pan. they hold another 2 or 4 quarts and you'll have to get a rear sump oil pan for the motor as the axle will hit it. the center shaft should be all you need to swap to convert the 2wd to a 4wd trans. I have done the 460 swap and i went with the headers that stay within the frame rails from l&l. they offer a few kits as well as lmc truck. I think lmc motor mount kit offers more room for headers with less to purchase than l&l. good luck!
