I bought my '96 with 20k miles on it in. It now has 137k. In the past 3 years it seems like anything and everything is starting to go wrong. I've put about $12k into the truck in the past few years - nothing fancy or pretty just fixing things that went wrong. I'm being plagued by little problems that will occur once or twice and then not again (the driver's side door won't open from the inside, the rear window won't roll back up in a rainstorm, a leak from the roof on the passenger side).

The latest is the timing cover leaking to the tune of $900 to fix if it just the gasket, $1125+ if it is the cover itself. And to think i was hoping it would be the heater core (again, have replaced 3x). Does anyone have a good Bronco mechanic in the Santa Clarita or San Fernando Valley areas of So Cal? Could trade electrical work (licensed contractor) for mechanical work.

I've had a dozen cars in my life and my Bronco has always been my favorite but I'm beginning to feel like it is trying to tell me to put it out of its misery.

Hi, Tanya, welcome to Bronco Zone!!! I always look at the repair and maintenance costs as being just like a monthly payment that I'd be making on a newer vehicle. It's hard to spend $500-$600/ month, though, and you don't have to pay for so much insurance. I think the main goal of this forum is to help you solve some of those little problems, without having to take it to a garage or the dealer and pay high labor costs just to fix the door or window or change a hose. Some things are better left to a qualified mechanic, but if we can help you keep the Bronco running and make life a tad bit easier, post your questions in the forum or look thru the tech articles section, JSM84
