hey i just picked up a 96 bronco (always wanted one) anyway the 4x4 on the fly works fine buttt my automatic locking hubs are not locking when i shift into 4wheel or 4 low. so i was looking online and found that alot of people just swap em out to manual locking hubs which i prefer anyway. i was just wondering what ones are the best and easiest to install and prefer a decent price? all info is appreciated.

thanks

Warn makes a pretty descent hub kit, and its pretty easy to install too. Bronco graveyard sells them. Way better off then those auto hubs. Never seem to hold up.

Yeah I put warn hubs in my bronco years before I sold it. Im going to be putting the warns into my F150 before the snow flies. they are ultra easy to put in, ultra tough and last a very long time.

OK, so it does not matter which brand you get, as long as it has a good warranty. But, excuse me I'm new to the whole prospect of hubs, can you maintain the "shift on the fly" with locking hubs? I live in Snow Country (Michigan) and it is nice option to have if you are sliding around, just hit the button. My hubs are currently working fine. I had a friend tell me that since I do not use the 4 wheel in the summer I have to engage them once a month to make sure they do not sieze up. So that is what I do. I know sooner or later I will have to swap them out and wanted to make sure I keep the "fly" option.

In the winter I generally keep my hubs locked. I do not have push button but the idea is the same. Just lock them when the snow starts flying and use as needed.

I know it is the hubs that are the problem i put a mark on the driveshaft and the front axle and engaged the 4x4 then moved the truck and both were moved i then disengaged the 4x4 and moved back to where the truck originaly started and the marks did not move back, that tells me it is working fine, i then engaged it once more and jacked up one fron wheel at a time and tried to spin them, each spun freely front and back that tells me the hubs are not engaged. now what is this that your saying about "old-style wheel bearing adjusting nuts"? why would i need them? and do i def. need them?

thanks guys

dennis93, are there 3 or 5 screws on your auto hub? if its 5 then all you need is the new hub.
