What do I need to do to swap motors in a 1993 F150 . It has a 6 cyl and I want to put in a 429 / 460 What do I need to do with the computer ? I was going to use a carb and old points.

You need to change the motor mounts on your F150/ Bronco to ones that fit the 429/460. L&L Products makes them, and Jeff's Bronco Graveyard sells them. These are what I'm using in the 84 Bronco. You also need to swap transmissions to one from a 429/460, since the bellhousing bolt patterns are different from your 300 I-6. You'll also have to address the fuel system, whether or not to keep the fuel injection or convert to a carb. Most of the older 460's are carbed, but 88-96 F-series truck have EFI motors. JSM84

If you run a carb and a C-6 auto or a manual tranny, you can remove the ECM altogether. If you use an E4OD auto, it's controlled by the ECM, and you need to trick the ECM into thinking the tranny is in Neutral. There's more info on computers used for engine swaps at www.fordfuelinjection.com. Lastly, I would run a DuraSPArk II, Ford HEI or PErtronix ignition system any day over points. Much less hassel. I'm running an HEI dizzy on my 460 like the one sold by DUI but alot cheaper. JSM84
