Hello, I am a first time Bronco owner for 2 days now............Thanks to BroncoZone for having a place to ask questions.

Rear Window motor doesn't move with the switch or the key, I checked power with it unplugged and it only gets 6.5 volts with the switch or the key.

The person I bought it from said it quit working last week when he washed it and showed me the window seal is rotted out.

Any Help in greatly appreciated

thanks

Dave

Spend a little time troubleshooting it. It is one of the easier things to fix. Remove the access panel and you will find a yellow and red wire along the bottom of the door. Using a set of long jumpers hook them to the wire if the motor doesn't move then reverse the leads. If it still doesn't move it is bad. the attached is a wiring diagram for the motor circuit. One of the common problems is the safety switch that is located in the driver side latch. Push on the gate and try the key. A bit of simple trouble shooting;

Common problems:

Motor bad or drive bearings shot

tail gate safety switch bad or out of adjustment

bad connections in the plugs between the tail gate and the driver panel switch

Note: that there are two fuses involved, one for the driver panel switch (hot in start and run) and one for the tailgate key switch (hot at all times)

the tail gate key switch should have 12V on the Black with whiter strip wire. If so, turn the switch and check the yellow with red stripe wire for 12V. If it is OK, work your way around if the yellow with red stripe wire has 12V then check the tan wit black stripe wire at the key switch, if it has 12 V then your ground path is bad.

Note the ground path returns through the driver panel switch and connects to the fire wall ground.

Good luck,

:)>-
