vehicle-1973 bronco

motor-100% stock and original 302, C4 auto trans.

new-cap,rotor,points,wires,plugs all set to spec.

problem- if i set the rpm at 650 in gear when i put it in park the rpm rises to 1000. if i set the rpm lower in neutral than put in gear it runs very rough and almost stalls. this also causes the trans to slam into gear. i have checked for vaccume leaks and have adjusted the high and low speed air fuel mixtures. the motor is pulling 16 inches of vaccume. this engine has 243000 miles on it. it runs great except at idle. any ideas. thank you.

the problem turned out to be a burnt valve in #5 cylinder.
