Fuel injection Question

I have an 89 F150 with a 300 inline 6 with fuel injection. I am using it for a mud truck and last year it ran great on the first day I ran it, then, I washed the motor, and and haven't been able to get it to run since. I am able to get it to fire when I shoot gas into the intake, but can't keep it running. It seems like the injectors aren't getting any fuel. I can hear the pump kick on when I turn the key on, so I know that is working. If anyone could help me out that would be great!

Just wondering... did you power wash it, with enough force to nock off a vacuum hose or any wireing?

In an '89 you would have two fuel pumps, a low pressure one in the tank, and a high pressure one on the driver's side rail.

there is also a fuel pressure regulator, and a fuel filter.

There are about four pages of instructions in a Haynes manual on how to test the various components with a fuel pressure guage, and volt meter.

That is where I would start.

OR... maybe I would start by considering when was the last time I gave it a tuneup, and pull the distributor cap, and at least make sure it is clean and dry. Actually since that is the easiest to do, I would pull the cap first.

What are your thoughts?

Thanks, I checked all the wires and vac hoses, and they are fine, also I know I have spark, it starts and runs when I squirt gas into the intake.

How does one check the relays?

Next I would give it a fuel pressure test.

If it has sufficient pressure at the rail, I would pull diagnostic codes.

Pulling codes will check your fuel pump relay, IAC EVP and other sensors and actuators

If the self test gives a pass code of 11 - and 11, then I would do the full fuel pressure test outlined in Haynes or Chilton. I am not familiar with what symptoms would exhist that would differenciate between a faulty low pressure vs faulty high pressure pump issue.
