I have a 1976 Bronco that has really bad rust. Me and my sister learned to drive in that truck. When we first bought it I have a lot of good memories working with my dad to get the truck operational. Well as time has gone by the Bronco has been sitting up for the last 10 years. I know shame on me. Well the Bronco had bad rust when I was 16, now im 37 and as you would guess it its even worse. I would like to restore the Bronco but im afraid that I might need a new body tub. Fenders are rusted and so is the tailgate. My question is should I go with fiberglass or back with metal? The motor and transmission are good. My concern is that the body work my be more than I can handle because its something I have never done before. Also cost comes into play. Any thouught? Thanks.

Hi Patrick.., Welcome..,

Can you be a bit more specific..? There's surface rust.., there's paint gone & replaced with rust.., then there's rust-out/rust thru.., meaning major pits & holes where rust ate thru.

Is it just the fenders & gate.., did you crawl under & look., how bout the floorboards & bed..?? Also the frame & under the hood.

A close look would help you (& us) determine a practial next move.

For example, surface rust is not a real biggie... >:D< <'>

There is rust through on the tailgate, front fenders and on the bed near the rear fenders. The rear bed rust is pretty extensive. The floor boards have been patched. The frame, hood and grill look good. Also the front windshield is shattered from a tornado. I can provide pictures tomorrow.
