Finally got my friend's 88' ignition sorted out (the guy who "worked" on it before me reversed the leads on the resistor between the coil & dizzy smoking the resistor & causing the no spark problem) but in doing some research I ran across this little tidbit that I hadn't known about.
Seems the dizzy mounted TFI's just quit altogether & **** the spark when the temp reaches 257* (125*C) but as soon as it cools down the engine fires up just fine without leaving *any* trace of what the problem was.
Nothing to be done about it as far as Ford is concerned but worth knowing about.
