Hey Guys,

I have a 82 with a 351, and i parked it in the garage to replace the raduis arm bushings. Then when i tried to start it, the starter wouldnt run. All i got was a repeated clicking from the solenoid. So i replaced the solenoid with a new one and the same thing happened. I need help here this is my daily driver!! Thanks

Have you checked the connection from the solinoid to the starter? or atleast made sure there is voltage at the starter?

Good luck,

:)>-

I had the same problem in my ford truck. Check your battery cables. i had old cables that were corroded inside the terminal. After i pulled the terminal off i could see where it was arcing. i replaced the terminals and cables and haven't had a problem since.

Always check the easy stuff first! The battery's discharged, could be due to corroded cables, my guess is you had the door open & the dome light drained the batt. Just my 2cents. :)>-

I agree with the top two, Fords are notorious for the bad connection from battery to starter and soliniod. I have also seen where the corrosion will seep up in to the cable itself and cause problems. Thats my story and i'm sticken to it.

Another connection that comes to mind is the ground cable from the battery to the engine block. Check both ends, take off and clean. Since there isn't any thing but battery, solinoid, cables and starter, you have to be close.

try the neutral safety switch. to bypass it just look on the drivers side of the engine compartment for a green wiring harness with 8 wires on it. pull it apart and jump the two blue wires with red stripes. dont worry about the other wires they are just for reverse lights and 4x4 lights. hope this helps...
