I have some problems with my rear window, it doesn't go eiter up or down :) I opened left break light and found some cabling and stuff. Can someone tell me what part is showing on the attached picture? And does it have to to with my rear window problem?

Thanks

What year Bronco is it? If it is 80 - 86 then one of the connectors is in the tail light pocket. If it is 87 and up there is no connector there. I was unable to download your picture, Bronco Zone seems to be choking on it. Try resizing it to 900 x nnn. Also, include your truck vital statistics in your signature, it helps with responses.

All that being said, a common failure is the safety switch in the left hand door latch. Attached is a diagram of the circuit that may help you troubleshoot it.

Good luck,

:)>-

OK, it's a year 89, 5L V8. Where do I find the safety switch? Left hand door? I'll try to resize the image as well.

Looks like the 89 still had the connector behind the tail light, I guess that was a 92 change to eliminate that one. Sure it could be the problem but so might any number of possible trouble spots. The best thing is to get a voltmeter and troubleshoot it using the diagram I gave you. The switch is located inside the left tail gate latch. If it is the problem, sometimes you can make the window work by pushing on the left side while operating the tail gate key switch. If that doesn't work, you will need to take off the access panel from inside the truck and then you can try using jumpers from a battery directly to the motor leads. Reversing the leads makes the motor go in the opposite direction. If jumping the motor leads works, then you have a connection problem. A common connection problem other than the safety switch is one of the wires between the front switch and the rear switch corrodes and actually breaks off.

Good luck,

:)>-

OK, thanks. I'll try tha battery thing. Do I need to get a new connector, or can I bypass that? Does it have a specific function? What is the part called, or is it just a generic part?

Thanks for the help.

Most people bypass the switch. I have had it bypassed for years. It removes a source of aggravation and allows easier access to the inside of the tail gate for maintenance.

Good luck,

I had the same problem. Took me a good while to find out what was wrong (use that wiring diagram, it helped me). I found out that my motor was good and that the motor would run in one direction but not the other. When operating one switch I would get 12V on one single lead to the motor when operating the other switch I would get 12V on both leads. I disconnected the harness at the plug you have shown and traced the circuit out with a continuity check and a needle. I found that the switch that actually moved the motor in one direction was faulty. It did not connect/disconnect. After replacing the switch everything works great. FYI Ford will charge you $233 for a new switch. Which is slightly less than I payed for my truck. Thank God for the Junk Yard.
